ALL SAINTS ESTATE MARSANNE 2015

92 Points
A number of Rutherglen estates are making tricked-up marsanne with plenty of oak and lees work, and in every case I prefer the younger, fresher and cheaper entry version. All Saints cleverly puts this wine over the lees of the big boy and gives it a little time in oak, but the focus remains resolutely on the lifted fragrance of lemon blossom and frangipane. There’s a lemon butter and frangipane exuberance to the palate, too, held neatly in place by refreshingly focused crunchy pear fruit, tight acidity and lingering texture. Drink 2013-2014

The Range
Our sophisticated, premium wines have plenty to offer the discerning consumer looking to try something new, yet approachable. Fruit driven with excellent balance and structure, these ready-to-drink styles are wonderful on their own and the perfect partner for a wide range of cuisines.

The Wine
A crisp, refreshing wine packed with distinctive Marsanne fruit flavours of lemon, peach and honey. Light to medium bodied with a minerally character and good acid on the finish which provides great structure and ensures it is very food-friendly.

Variety
Marsanne is a native of the northern Rhône Valley in southern France where it achieves its ultimate expression as a single varietal in wines such as Chapoutier's Chante-Alouette, a single vineyard on the Hermitage hill. Interestingly, the world’s oldest Marsanne vines are here in Australia at Tahbilk, which was the original source of All Saints vines.

Winemaking
The fruit is hand picked in the cool of the morning and then destemmed and crushed to the press on arrival at the winery. The juice was cold settled for 36 hours before being racked and inoculated with yeast for fermentation. Fermented to dryness in stainless steel tanks, the wine was then transferred to premium French oak barrels which had contained the previous vintage of our Family Cellar Marsanne, where it matured on full lees for three months to add texture prior to bottling in November 2015.

Food Matching
Being food-friendly and extremely versatile this wine is a great match for lighter white meats such as turkey or veal. Its fuller palate texture also lends itself to seafood dishes with creamier sauces.

Cellaring Potential
This appealing wine has minimal oak influence and is quite aromatic so is not destined for the cellar. Drink now.
